iPad Cover Engraving: Approve the Logo Size Before Marking

iPad Cover Engraving: Approve the Logo Size Before Marking

Approve an iPad-cover logo on the removable cover, away from the device, before any marking. Establish the cover's material compatibility first, then agree the logo size, orientation and clearances. A cover demonstration is not permission to engrave an assembled tablet or an unidentified synthetic case.

Electronics-personalization examples in LaserPecker's engraving guidance show why placement is a purchase concern. For this job, the evidence for the TYVOK product is its own cover demonstration, not a competitor's metal-device process.

Start with the customer's viewing position

Ask the customer to show how the cover is normally viewed: closed on a desk, held vertically, or folded into a stand. Photograph that orientation without the tablet present and mark the intended top edge on the approval image. A logo centered on a flat cover can appear upside down when the cover is used as a stand.

Prepare two actual-size paper logo options and label their widths. For example, 30 mm and 40 mm options illustrate a customer choice; neither dimension is a universal recommendation or a machine clearance promise. Include a ruler in the approval photograph so an email display cannot silently change the apparent scale.

Before using P2 Acceptance evidence Stop condition
Cover identity Supplier confirms exact construction and compatible process Unknown coating, adhesive or composite
Logo placement Customer approves labeled width and viewing orientation Approval only says “make it nice”
Supported placement Detached cover rests correctly within documented limits Fold, hardware or raised feature interferes
Matching scrap Representative proof accepted Only the customer's finished cover is available for experimentation

Make the approval reproducible

Record distances from two stable cover edges to a defined point on the artwork, such as its bounding-box corner. “Centered” alone is ambiguous when camera cutouts, hinges or asymmetrical borders interrupt the outline. Save the approved artwork version together with the dimensions and orientation photograph.

Remove all temporary paper and marking aids before the powered workflow. They establish appearance, not focus or material safety. If the customer changes the logo after approval, regenerate the actual-size overlay; the same outer width can hide different clearances when lettering or symbols change.

For documented leather covers, resolve oil and wrinkle concerns before committing to placement. If the detached object does not sit normally in the supported setup, the large-object placement check explains why object stability requires its own decision; it does not authorize unsupported positioning.

Choose the P2 around the accepted blank

The TYVOK P2 page includes an iPad-cover example within compact personalization. Object thickness, focal reach, actual marking dimensions and the cover's complete composition still need confirmation against the current machine instructions. Do not infer whole-cover capability from the size of a logo or transfer settings from an unrelated device video.

Can I leave the iPad inside to keep the cover flat?

No. This workflow requires the cover to be detached. If it cannot be supported safely without the device, do not use the device as a fixture.

What if the customer approves a phone screenshot?

Ask for approval of a dimensioned proof. A screenshot can establish the design, but its display size cannot reliably establish the physical logo width.
