Large Photo Tiles Do Not Match? Lock One Tone Reference

When adjoining photographic panels differ in tone, start with one preserved image master and one shared reference. Prepare the image as a whole before making panel crops, then compare representative samples together. Here, “photo tiles” means adjoining image panels; it does not imply that ceramic tile is supported.

Current photo-preparation guidance from xTool emphasizes image adjustments. Applying separate automatic adjustments to adjoining crops can create different interpretations of the same scene. A common reference makes that difference visible before large blanks are committed.

Separate a seam mismatch from a stock mismatch

Imagine a landscape divided into left and right panels. The sky crosses the seam, while a dark tree occupies only the left side. If each crop is automatically adjusted independently, the tree can influence the left crop's tonal treatment differently from the right. Keep the whole-image adjustment as the starting point, then derive the two crops from that approved version.

Add a small shared reference to separate test pieces: the same sky crop, an intermediate feature and a dark feature. Use representative documented compatible stock and retain its lot identity. Label the intended panel position and face orientation so the test pieces cannot be swapped during comparison.

Approve the pair in the intended viewing conditions

Place both samples side by side in their intended order. Use consistent lighting and comparable surface condition. Do not approve the left sample from a bright photograph and the right sample from a dim workshop snapshot. If a finish is part of the delivered job, include it in a representative approved sample through the documented material process.

Record the master revision, crop boundaries, stock identifiers and baseline process. If a later replacement panel is needed, those records provide a starting point, not a guarantee that a new material lot will match. A replacement still requires comparison against the retained reference.

The customer JPG/PNG master workflow keeps source pixels and revisions traceable. If the mismatch is sideways displacement instead of tone, the image-shift diagnostic addresses that separate defect. Do not try to hide a positional error by darkening the image.

Large area does not guarantee uniform photographs

The X1S 2026 is positioned for large-format layouts, with configuration-dependent work area. Its size does not establish tonal uniformity across every blank. Verify the actual area, focus, material eligibility and supported workflow; maintain documented extraction, protection and active supervision during testing.

Should I adjust each panel until it looks identical on screen?

First reassemble the digital crops and compare the common scene. Independent edits can destroy continuity. Physical differences require physical reference samples before deciding on compensation.

Can I replace one panel months later without another proof?

Do not assume an exact match. Retrieve the approved master and retained sample, check the new stock, and approve the replacement under comparable conditions.
