If a finished stamp prints unevenly, check the mount, cushion contact, ink coverage and pressing surface before changing the artwork. A missing corner can come from uneven contact even when the raised image is intact. Diagnose one variable at a time, using components already prepared through an approved process.
A January 16, 2026 stamp-making discussion includes cushioning as an assembly consideration. That supports looking beyond the engraved image; it does not establish rubber compatibility with A1 Mini or a universal cushion specification.
Keep mounting separate from laser work
Cushion and adhesive belong only in assembly after all laser processing and approved cleanup are complete. Never return the assembled stamp to the laser for a correction. Follow the component supplier's mounting instructions, including adhesive use and any curing requirement.
If making a stamp face with A1 Mini, first obtain confirmation for the exact rubber composition, selected machine configuration and extraction arrangement. Do not treat a finished purchased stamp or a sheet sold for another laser as proof. A useful mount diagnosis can also be performed on a commercially made stamp without laser processing anything.

The mirror and polarity check addresses orientation errors. A cushion cannot correct a backward word, and reversing the image cannot correct a tilted mount.
Compare impressions without guessing
For a hypothetical 40 mm rectangular stamp, make several impressions on the same paper over a stable, suitable surface. Keep the ink application method consistent. Mark which edge of the mount faced you for each print so the result stays connected to the physical stamp.
If a pale corner follows the mount when its orientation changes, inspect the corresponding area for incomplete attachment or damage under the supplier's instructions. If the weakness instead follows how your hand approaches the paper, compare a more even press. These observations narrow the diagnosis; they do not prove which component must be replaced.
Do not compensate with excessive force. Pressure that bends the mount or crushes a component can introduce a second problem. Repair or replace unsuitable assembly parts according to their supplier, and repeat the comparison before deciding the stamp face needs remaking.
A1 Mini expectations
The current A1 Mini page lists a 120 × 130 mm engraving area and desktop maker positioning. A small stamp may fit geometrically, but material approval, relief quality and extraction remain separate requirements. Product size alone cannot validate stamp manufacture.
Will a thicker cushion fix every uneven print?
No. Thickness and compression must suit the stamp system. A thicker layer may change handling without correcting a warped mount or missing raised detail. Use the component supplier's specified construction and compare consistent impressions after assembly.
Why does my repeating border still have gaps?
If each individual impression is complete, examine pattern spacing and neighboring artwork boundaries. The woodblock tile-boundary example explains adjacency as a separate design problem. First establish a complete single impression; then judge how repeated impressions connect on the page.
