Cut Selected Graphics Is Not a Crop at the Bed Boundary

Cut Selected Graphics chooses which objects are included in output. It does not trim a selected object wherever that object crosses the displayed bed boundary. If only part of a shape belongs in the job, create the intended geometry explicitly in a production copy, then check its full bounds, operations and positioning before starting.

A LightBurn user asking for only the selected workspace area exposed this distinction after changing computers. The official selection-output documentation explains that selected graphics determine output and that Use Selection Origin changes how the origin is calculated. Neither control is a substitute for editing geometry.

Follow the entire selected object

Imagine a long decorative line that enters the workspace from the left and exits on the right. Selecting it identifies the whole line, including both ends outside the visible bed. Drawing a selection box around its middle does not create two new endpoints at the box edges.

Likewise, a grouped design may include distant shapes that are not obvious at your current zoom. Inspect the full selected bounds and the group's contents. If the intended job is a small motif from a larger panel, separate or rebuild that motif in a copy while preserving the original source file.

Make the production copy explicit

Choose the required finished shape before editing. A closed outline that is trimmed carelessly may become open; a fill may then change or disappear. After any trimming or Boolean operation, inspect joins, closed contours and the operation preview. Raster images require their own supported image-cropping or masking workflow rather than assumptions based on vector tools.

For an X1S Pro subset job, record these four decisions:

Do not disable boundary warnings to force an oversized object to run. Resolve the geometry or positioning that caused the warning.

Preview the subset, then verify its position

Use Preview to inspect what will be sent, including unexpected outlines and moves. Check the mixed-file layer record if the selected group combines images, text and vectors. A correct selection can still carry an incorrect operation.

Next, verify the origin and frame through the supported procedure for your machine. Do not switch to Current Position simply because another user's file used it. Also inspect reference photographs that affect expected framing bounds, especially when the production file began as a customer mockup.

Confirm the installed work area and software arrangement against the TYVOK X1S Pro product page. The displayed workspace must reflect the actual machine, and the selected material still needs an approved process. A larger model designation is not permission to ignore the configured limits.

Does Use Selection Origin remove geometry outside the bed?

No. It changes the origin calculation for the selected graphics when applicable. It does not cut those graphics into smaller shapes or make an oversized object fit.

Why does a selected group include an unexpected distant line?

The line may belong to that group even if it is outside the current view. Inspect the group's complete bounds and contents, and make a production copy containing only the intended elements.
