For a marker that must clip into crochet fabric, choose an attachment that opens. A closed ring is useful when it slides along a knitting needle between stitches, but it can become trapped if placed through a completed crochet stitch. Decide the attachment's job before personalizing the wooden decoration.
This needlework accessory collection includes wooden stitch markers. The wooden face can carry a symbol or name; the finding determines whether the marker rides on a needle or can be removed from the fabric. These are separate choices.
Follow where the marker goes during one row
Ask the maker to demonstrate with the intended hook, needle and yarn. A needle marker must pass comfortably along the needle and move from one needle to the other when reached. A removable marker needs to open, enter the chosen stitch and close without catching adjacent strands. A decorative wooden tag should not interfere with either motion.
Try the attachment first using an undecorated spare tag. Check the tag's weight and swing when the work is turned. A large charm may be easy to read yet awkward beside fine yarn; reducing the artwork will not change the weight of an oversized wooden blank.

Engrave the wood before fitting the hardware
Use known suitable precut wood, with a spare from the same supply for the first sample. Inspect the attachment hole before placing text; leave adequate surrounding material and do not turn a functional opening into a decorative cutout. The wood medallion cord check is useful when the hanging connection, rather than the front face, sets the design limits.
The TYVOK P2 provides a small blue-diode galvo work area for personalization. Its current 60 × 60 mm field can accommodate individual compact charms when the holder and focus are suitable. It does not establish that any metal finding can be processed. Add the purchased hardware only after the wood has cooled and been cleaned.
Once assembled, work several stitches with the marker, remove it and check the yarn for snagging. A marker should move or release as required; a kumihimo braiding slot has the opposite job of deliberately holding cord tension. Keep those functions separate when judging whether a yarn accessory works.
Can I use one marker for both knitting and crochet?
An opening marker may work for both if its size, closure and weight suit the actual yarn and tools. Prove both uses; the fact that it opens does not establish comfortable needle clearance.
Should I cut the ring from the same wood as the charm?
Not by default. A thin wooden ring introduces strength and surface-finish questions. A suitable purchased finding lets the laser work remain on the decoration while the attachment is evaluated separately.
