Quarantine customer-supplied plastic until supplier or SDS documentation identifies both the substrate and every protective film or adhesive. Never use a laser, flame, smell, or burn test to identify it.
Appearance cannot identify plastic

- 1. Photograph labels and keep the stock outside the laser work queue.
- 2. Request supplier documentation for the sheet, film, adhesive, color, and lot.
- 3. Explicitly refuse PVC/vinyl, polycarbonate, unidentified film, and unknown adhesive.
- 4. Release only the documented eligible configuration under current machine and workspace guidance.

Can I peel the film and test the sheet?
Not unless the sheet identity and residue state are documented. Peeling does not identify the substrate.
Does acrylic appearance distinguish it from polycarbonate?
No. Appearance is not reliable chemistry evidence.
Will stronger ventilation make an unknown sheet safe?
No. Ventilation does not make unknown stock eligible.
