LightBurn Renewal vs Pro Upgrade: Check What You Need

LightBurn Renewal vs Pro Upgrade: Check What You Need

Renewing LightBurn's update period and upgrading its software edition address different requirements. Check whether you need access to a newer release, a feature reserved for Pro, or simply recovery of an existing license. The TYVOK X1S Pro machine name does not itself establish a LightBurn Pro license entitlement.

A September 16–17 forum question asks about moving to a newer release after the update period has expired. The useful answer starts with the installed version and license record, rather than an assumption that the whole software license must be purchased again.

Read the two parts of the requirement

LightBurn's License Management reference distinguishes continued use from eligibility for future updates. An expired update period does not stop you using an eligible existing version. A newer release may require a renewed update period, while a particular feature may also require the appropriate edition.

The 2.2 RC1 Early Access announcement identifies True Nest as a Pro-only feature. That is a concrete example of why the two checks matter. It does not mean every owner needs the feature, and it does not make this Early Access release a qualified TYVOK production setup. No hardware validation has been performed here.

Your situation Check before changing the license
Proven installed version works Whether it already meets the actual job need
New release is unavailable Update eligibility shown for the existing key
Desired feature is locked Required software edition in official documentation
Original key cannot be found Existing purchase record and recovery options
Machine says X1S Pro Actual software entitlement supplied with your order

Start with the job you need to improve

Write down one measurable requirement: arrange irregular parts, connect the actual controller, or use a specific documented tool. Then check the software version and edition that support that requirement. A different machine badge or a newer version number does not answer it.

If you cannot locate your key, use the license-key recovery process before considering another purchase. Keep license keys private when asking for help. A screenshot of the relevant edition and update date should exclude the key itself.

Match software choices to X1S Pro work

The TYVOK X1S Pro product page lists LightBurn support for its workshop workflow. Confirm the selected machine configuration and any included software with the seller in writing. Compatibility messaging is not a statement that a paid Pro edition or future updates are included.

If evaluating 2.2 RC1 is useful, keep it optional and use a parallel installation with separate job copies. Retain the approved stable setup while checking the feature on representative files.

Will my current work stop when the update period expires?

Official documentation says an eligible version remains usable after expiry. The expiry concerns access to newer updates. Check your key's eligibility against the release you intend to run instead of assuming the installed program must stop.

Does renewing updates automatically turn Core into Pro?

Treat those as separate checks. Update eligibility concerns releases; edition determines access to edition-specific features. Review the actual entitlement attached to your key and the requirement of the tool you want before making a decision.
