First Focus Test: Use a Safe Ramp or Distance Card

Weak or blurry first output cannot be interpreted until focus setup is verified. Follow the current A1 Mini method; LaserPecker distances and mechanics in the demand source do not transfer.

Verify the A1 method before judging output

LaserPecker current support documents manual focal-distance measurement, supporting a measured focus check rather than guessed distance. Demand source. Use a flat, disposable, eligible blank and record the instructed distance or focus state. Frame the small proof, observe it continuously, and compare a single documented focus adjustment rather than raising power blindly.

Use a disposable focus sample

Decision point Evidence to retain Hold condition
Manual Current A1 focus method Do not copy LX2 distances
Sample Flat eligible disposable blank No final gift first
Distance record Actual documented setup No universal focal number
Result Weak/blurry mark isolated safely Stop before hardware repair

If the required position cannot be reached or motion/focus behavior is abnormal, stop. Preserve photos and contact TYVOK support instead of adjusting sensors or mechanical alignment.

Escalate instead of adjusting unknown hardware

Keep the focus card with the accepted sample. If a later result weakens, compare the documented physical setup first and escalate abnormal motion rather than translating competitor repair advice. A focus sample should contain one fine line, one filled area, and a small edge feature relevant to the first project. That makes blur or weak contrast easier to recognize than a solid square alone.

Worked record for result

Keep the focus record with the sample: manual/version date, blank thickness, instructed reference point, observed focus state, file, and result. That card makes a later weak mark comparable without publishing or borrowing a focal distance that may not apply.

A1 Mini boundary for manual

Follow current A1 Mini focus instructions rather than LaserPecker distances. Use eligible scrap with suitable extraction, continuous supervision and fire readiness; flame, abnormal smoke, unexpected motion or heat ends the proof. Confirm the current A1 Mini configuration before purchase or use.

Related checks after sample

The paper-support guide applies when the first focus sample shows underside smoke transfer; the empty-import guide separates a file-state failure from a focus problem. Read Paper Gets Smoke Marks Underneath: Check the Baseplate Setup and Laser File Imports but Nothing Engraves: Check the Job Data.

Buyer questions about distance record

Can I copy a LaserPecker focus distance?

No. Follow current A1 Mini instructions; competitor distances and mechanics do not transfer.

Why test focus before power?

A weak or blurry result can be misread when the physical setup is not verified.

Can I adjust hardware myself?

Do not improvise repair. Preserve evidence and escalate suspected hardware faults.
