A hose-move example
If F and M agree but L shows heavier residue after an undocumented hose move, quarantine the affected interval. Do not rewrite settings until the changed physical state is understood.
Hold the interval when evidence drifts
- 1. Define the batch and sample positions before work starts.
- 2. Preserve material lot, file, setup, and operator observations with each sample.
- 3. Stop on abnormal smoke, flame, residue, weak capture, or incomplete output.
- 4. If the pattern drifts, inspect only under current manufacturer guidance and preserve evidence for support.

Why not inspect only the first article?
It proves the start condition, not the middle or end after heat, residue, movement, or cleaning events.
Does edge color measure airflow?
No. It is an outcome signal that can have multiple causes.
Can the calendar choose a universal sample interval?
No. A shop chooses risk-based points from lot, job criticality, history, and documented disturbances.
